Gil Slate is an insurance professional specializing in Information Technology oriented accounts, Non-Profit Organizations, Construction-related accounts and Property Management accounts with a passion to serve his clients by sharing his extensive knowledge and attention to detail.

Gil State began his insurance career with Sentry Insurance, where he was recognized as the national "Rookie of the Year". He secured clients representing school boards, electrical cooperatives, concrete manufacturing and delivery, and brick and block manufacturing. He set up a nationally endorsed program for International Fabric Institutions and personally handled three of the largest industrial dry cleaners in the Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland region.

Gil joined a nationally recognized brokerage firm in Northern Virginia and landed many diverse Marquis Accounts that included Jack Kent Cooke Holdings: the Washington Redskins, the Chrysler and Kennedy Buildings in New York City, thoroughbred horse farms in Kentucky, an estate in Middleburg, Virginia, and cable companies in Texas and Alaska; the William A. Hazel Construction Company in Northern Virginia; and (Frank) Purdue Farms in Salisbury, Maryland.

Gil's experience and initiative enabled him to start an Independent Agency, setting up innovative national insurance programs for new car franchise dealerships. In addition, as part of the transition to an Independent Agent, Gil, a native of Richmond, Virginia, brought risk management services to small, medium, and large accounts in the Richmond Tri-Cities area. As an Independent Agent, he specialized in Information Technology accounts, non-profit organizations, construction, and property management oriented firms.

Gil is a native of Richmond, Virginia, with strong ties to the community. His father, Edward Slate, served as a volunteer firefighter for Henrico County and as a VDOT employee for over 40 years, and his mother, Mary Slate, taught in the Henrico County Public Schools for over 40 years.
